Hello, friends!

It's been a while since I've written, and I figured today is as good as any other day to reach out and say hello.

The last embers of summer are burning out, with just one week left. Looking back on the past few months, I feel like things, for the most part, went as well as they could. Stepping back to look at the entire year, I can't believe it's been one full year since I published my first novel, The Basement Dwellers. A lot has happened in that time: I've written and published three more books, attended several horror conventions, held a couple of signings at local Barnes & Noble stores, made great acquaintances, connections, and friends, and—most importantly—learned a hell of a lot about the publishing industry. Oh, and I should add: the journey thus far has been an absolute blast.

So, what's next? I will be at NJ Horror Con next week on Saturday, September 26th, and Sunday, September 27th. I just heard Kevin Smith will be making an appearance on Sunday! I'm going to have copies of The Dark Pit with the limited Splatterpunk cover at the con; it was a huge hit at Necronomicon last month in Providence, RI, where I ended up selling out of all the copies I brought. The splatter cover is limited to 80 copies total. After that, I will be selling books at The Horror Sideshow Market in Hillsborough, NJ, on Saturday, November 14th. I originally signed up for that show this past summer, but due to a variety of logistical issues, organizers ended up moving it to November. That will be the last convention or horror market I attend this year. It's always a fun time getting out there and introducing new readers to my books.

Aside from conventions and appearances, I am focusing much of my free time on new stories. I feel very good about the work I put in this summer, having written three new books. I'm hoping to release one of them right around Halloween in late October. I've been revising it since last week, and I believe it will be ready by then—which is perfect, considering its theme. More news on this book to come in the next week or so...

Above is a picture of me (left) with David Simmons. I met David at a book signing last month at Thrillerdelphia, Philly's first horror-themed bookstore. He was a blast to share a table with. Based in Baltimore, Maryland, David writes about gritty subjects and shines a light on characters living on the margins of society. I just read his novel, Eradicator, and it was an incredible read. During the signing, he imparted some valuable wisdom and couldn't have been nicer.

I am excited to share more news about my forthcoming book soon. It's the darkest book I've written, and I am very proud of it. The artwork by Sans is also outstanding.

Have a great rest of your week, friends!

David :)
